Watch Peak Party is a two-person watch party for YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, JioHotstar and Crunchyroll — synced playback, chat, voice and video. If something is not working, start with the two checks below: between them they explain most of what people write in about.

Try these first

1. Reload your video tabs after the extension updates. A tab that was already open keeps running the previous version of the extension, and it cannot talk to the new one. This is the single most common cause of trouble, and it does not look like what it is — the microphone starts refusing with a sign-in error even though you are still signed in, the party stops responding, and reloading the extension again does not help. Reload the video tab itself and it clears.

2. Check you are both on the same version. Open chrome://extensions on both computers and compare the version numbers under Watch Peak Party. Playback sync is a conversation between two copies of the extension, and a mismatch shows up as drift, missed pauses, or one side not following a video change.

Get in touch

Email help@watchpeakparty.fun for anything: a bug, a question, an account problem, a service you would like supported, or a refund. We reply within two business days, usually sooner.

For privacy and data requests, write to privacy@watchpeakparty.fun instead — it goes to the same people, but it keeps those requests together and on the clock.

Playback and sync

Both players need to be on the same video, and both need to have finished loading before scrubbing settles down. If one of you has just navigated to a new episode, give the players a moment to open before judging whether they are together.

  • The party is out of sync — six checks, in the order worth trying
  • The party will not connect, or keeps dropping
  • Changing the video without restarting the party
  • How the sync actually works — useful for describing a problem precisely

A specific streaming service

Each player behaves differently, and a few have their own failure modes that are worth reading about before assuming the extension is broken.

  • Netflix — including the loading screen reappearing on one side
  • Prime Video — “we’re currently experiencing a problem”
  • YouTube · Disney+ · Hulu
  • HBO Max · JioHotstar · Crunchyroll

The extension only runs on a video page on a supported service. On a browse, home or search page there is nothing to sync to, so the party button will not appear — see why the WP badge is not showing up.

Voice, camera and chat

Microphone and camera are off until you turn them on, and Chrome asks for permission the first time. If the extension says you need to sign in to use voice or video and you know you are signed in, reload the video tab — see Try these first.

  • Audio is not working — start with which audio you mean
  • Camera is not working
  • Setting up push-to-talk
  • Using chat during a film · Every control in the panel

Friends and invites

You can share a party with a link, or add someone as a friend and invite them directly. There is no code to type in.

  • Friends and direct invites
  • How the invite link works

Reporting a problem

The more of this you can include, the faster it gets fixed. None of it is required — write in with whatever you have.

  • Which streaming service, and whether it was a film or an episode
  • Which of you it happened to: the person who changed the video, or the other one
  • What you saw, and what you expected instead
  • Whether it happens every time or occasionally, and roughly when it started
  • The extension version from chrome://extensions, for both people
  • Your operating system and Chrome version

If you are comfortable doing it: open the page where it went wrong, press F12 to open Chrome DevTools, choose the Console tab, and copy anything in red that mentions Watch Peak Party. That log usually names the cause outright.

Account, billing and data

Signing in with Google is only needed for friends, direct invitations and voice/video. A party started from a link works without an account.

To delete your account and the data attached to it, or to ask what is stored, email privacy@watchpeakparty.fun. The Privacy Policy lists everything we hold and why, including every Chrome permission the extension requests and what it is used for. The Terms of Service cover billing and refunds.
